Madison, Alabama, offers many unique opportunities to get outside and participate in the local community. There are endless amounts of fun outdoor activities for you to explore this summer, and we’ve compiled a list of a few of our favorites.
Go on a Hike
If you love outdoor adventures or want to break in your new hiking boots, check out the Rainbow Mountain Trails. There are multiple trails for you to choose from according to your skill level, so even if you’re a beginner, can have a fun time. There is a pavilion nearby for you to rest after your hike, or you could have a post-workout picnic! If you have children, you can take them to the park near the entrance of the trails where they have a variety of playground equipment.
Go to the Farmers Market
Every Saturday from April to November, the Madison City Farmers Market opens and allows local farmers to share their produce with the community. Enjoy a relaxing stroll around the market and pick up fresh, delicious fruits, vegetables, home-baked goods and more! Local craftspeople also make handmade goods such as soap and candles that can be a great addition to liven up any home.
Go to the Park
Nothing says summertime like a fun day spent at the park! The Dublin Memorial Park has many features for you and your friends and family to enjoy like a basketball court, swimming pool, playground, walking track, gymnasium and more! There are many fun outdoor activities to do here, so be sure to check it out!
Also, be sure to check out the Palmer Park in Madison. It features multiple fields for sports playing – you can play soccer, football, baseball and more. There are even press boxes so you and your friends can act like you’re playing Major League Baseball and commentate on the plays. A fun time for any sports fan, be sure to check it out.
Take Your Dog to the Dog Park
We all love our four-legged furry friends, and they deserve some quality time at the dog park. Take them to the Dogspot at Creekwood Park where they can play fetch with other dogs and make some furry friends. There are multiple play areas for the dogs and they can be unleashed to enjoy optimal playtime. They also divide the areas off for smaller dogs to have their own play space, so that they can ensure safety. Grab your dog’s favorite toy and let them enjoy playtime with their new friends!
Watch a Baseball Game
Home of the Trash Pandas, Toyota Field lets baseball fans enjoy minor league games all summer long. Take your date, family, friends or children for a night out to enjoy the big game. Toyota Field has reasonably priced concession stand items for you to enjoy while you root for your favorite team, and tickets are primarily cheaper than what major league baseball games would cost. The ballpark just opened in 2021, so come check it out if you haven’t already!
All-in-all, there are many fun outdoor activities to do this summer in Madison. From going on a hike to supporting your local farmers at the farmers market or going to the dog park, you’ll never run out of options for things to do.
